2023-2024 Fulbright Lecturer

Dr. Cassie Lopez-Jeng earned her PhD in Global Community Health and Behavioral Sciences and her MPH in Health Education and Communication from Tulane University and her undergraduate degree in Biology from the University of Michigan. Her research agenda focuses on the intersection of public health and aging, exploring a variety of chronic and aging-specific issues through the lens of health education, including sarcopenia and sarcopenic obesity, patient safety, falls prevention, and women’s reproductive health. She has previously served on the state governor-appointed Michigan Commission on Services to the Aging. Her current projects focus on interdisciplinary education for healthcare employees related to falls prevention and other care and safety issues for older adults, including developing an innovative education platform for skilled nursing facility employees, conducting a review of nationally recognized evidence-based falls prevention programs in the US, and examining the sociocultural determinants of best practices in aging-related public health practice and policy across Taiwan to shape global understanding and applicability.
