I have been awarded a Taiwan Fellowship to pursue a research project on Engaging Young Canada in the Sinosphere. It relates to training Canadian scholars of China studies and building bridges of knowledge and collaboration with Taiwan for Canadian scholars in this field. It uses the term Sinosphere to refer to contemporary China studies, with a principal focus on contemporary China and Taiwan.
This project seeks to explore issues related to contemporary China and to consider Canada’s relationship with China and Taiwan as context for training China studies scholars. It focuses on Taiwan as a place for Canadian scholars to study and research the contemporary Sinosphere and to increase awareness of the value of Canada-Taiwan academic linkages.
