Visiting Scholars Program

Visiting scholars are individuals whose primary purpose for residence on NTU campus is to conduct research and / or lectures. The applicant shall not possess a student identity when applying for the program. The length of stay for a visiting scholar is normally not more than one year. Visiting scholar positions are not compensated. Please refer to our Visiting Scholars’ Services and Fee Paying Policy for more information.

Service Fee Policy

Airport to city

Most international flights land at Taoyuan International Airport (TPE). The journey from Taoyuan International Airport to NTU is about 46 kilometers (around 40 mins by taxi, 1.5 hours by MRT and local bus).

Other airports you might arrive from (taxi time to NTU)

1. Taipei SongShan Airport (TSA): 35 to 40 mins

2. Taichung Airport (TCA): 130 mins

3. Kaohsiung International Airport (KIA): 220 mins

Within the Taiwan High Speed Rail, you may travel from Taipei to Kaohsiung within 1.5 hours.

Kaohsiung International Airport (KHH) is the main international airport in Southern Taiwan. The journey from Kaohsiung International Airport to central Taipei would take up to 2 to 3 hours, which requires 0.5 hour MRT ride and 1.5 hours ride on the Taiwan High Speed Rail.

Would you like to be assisted at the airport ?

If you are coming to NTU as a Visiting Scholar, the Office of International Affairs (OIA) may be able to arrange for a Student Ambassador to meet you at the airport, depending on availability. Please apply at least 10 working days before your departure.

After applying and being confirmed to join NTU Visiting Scholar Program, the transportation fare should be covered by the visiting scholar. It is not included in the program fee.

Housing

NTU provides accommodation on campus for full-time faculty members and visiting scholars, with limited availability. Your host department can assist you in finding accommodation best suited to your needs.

Visiting Scholars Staying for Less than One Month

Hsiu Chi House

Located next to the main campus, the Hsiu Chi House 修齊會館 is operated by Prince Housing and Development Cooperation. It welcomes both long and short-term stays.
